Reading
I encourage the students to read each day for 20 minutes. This can be done in a variety of ways:
RAZ Kids
Each student has a RAZ kids account and this will provide them with a variety of books they can listen too, read and answer comprehension questions about.
Sharing a Story
Reading a story to your child opens their imagination, expands their understanding of the world and helps them to develop language and listening skills.
Retell a Story
Have your child tell you, in their own words, a story that they are familiar with. This may be a story they read in RAZ kids, a story you have read together or a TV show/movie they have watched. Encourage them to think about what happens in the beginning, the middle and the end. Who are the characters? Where is the setting? What is the problem? The solution? Is this a story that could really happen? Why? Why not?
